Did you know Vitamin Water, that trendy, fashionable looking bottle sitting in the gas station, was made by Coca Cola company? Yeah, the same company that makes lots of sugar water that Americans are gulping down by the gallon, causing a diabetes and obesity epidemic. Each bottle of the stuff contains 33 grams of sugar, as much as a 20 oz coke.
Now I am normally not a fan of The Huffington Post, most of the time they are too busy with their political agenda to get anything right, but I will cede them this point.
Now here’s something you wouldn’t expect. Coca-Cola is being sued by a non-profit public interest group, on the grounds that the company’s vitaminwater products make unwarranted health claims. No surprise there. But how do you think the company is defending itself?
In a staggering feat of twisted logic, lawyers for Coca-Cola are defending the lawsuit by asserting that “no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking vitaminwater was a healthy beverage.”
The truth is that when it comes to weight loss, what you drink may be even more important than what you eat. Americans now get nearly 25 percent of their calories from liquids.
The author’s tip? Drink some water flavored with lemon. My tip? Don’t drink so much crap, and get your vitamins from real food!
