With our ongoing coverage of the series premieres of network television shows, the much hyped new NBC series “Outsourced” debuts tonight at 9:30pm on the east coast, but some are saying the show is “racist” and “culturally insensitive”.
The show features an American moving to Mumbai, India to manage a call center and explain American pop culture to his employees. The show however makes fun of both Indian and American culture equally well, so what’s all the fuss about? What critics leave out is the adoption of American pop culture by India as seen in the Bollywood filmaking industry which is rivaling Hollywood in its yearly output of movies.
