According to the most popular internet stat counter Statcounter.com, Internet Explorer’s market share, which is a percentage that tells how many users are using a certain browser, has fallen below 50% for the first time.
Firefox’s market share is now 31.5% with Google’s Chrome on its heals increasing at a rapid pace from 3.7% to 11.5% a year ago.
“This is certainly a milestone in the Internet browser wars,” Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter says. “Just two years ago IE dominated the worldwide market with 67%.”
In Europe, the EU commands that Microsoft allow users a choice in browsers when users buy Windows software or buy a computer pre-installed with Windows software, which may have tipped IE’s market share below %50 for the first time.
