Thousands Of Seals Beached On Pictou Island Nova Scotia

3,000 to 4,000 seals have beached on Pictou Island in Nova Scotia to give birth to pups.

The island isn’t very populated with only 13 residents, and they say this has happened previously in 2006 when a tidal surge killed most of them.

The residents are concerned the seal population is exploding and this may damage fishery operations in the North Atlantic.
Townspeople rely on a profitable lobster fishing season to survive.

Another explanation for the massive numbers is poor ice conditions out in the ocean as reported by Global News.
