The head of the suicide bomber who killed scores of people at Domodedovo airport in Moscow was found by detectives as reported by Interfax news agency.
35 people were killed by the blast and 180 were wounded as an explosion ripped through Moscow’s busiest airport.
The bomber detonated the explosion inside the airport.
“Attempts were being made to identify” the suspected male suicide bomber, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said.
The attacker seemed to have been wearing a belt at the time of the explosion new reports indicate.
Chechen militants are the most likely suspects in the killings. Two female Chechen militants blew up two planes killing 90 on board after a security breach in Domodedovo in August 2004 which prompted the airport to spend $20 million on new security screening including full body scanners to step up security.
Sadly the new measures put in place were not enough to stop the bloody attack on January 24, 2011.
Many have said airport screening and security measures and procedures at Domodedovo are lax and not strictly enforced.
Not out of the question is Al Qaeda who may come forward in the coming days claiming responsibility. Islamic militants have begun showing displays of aggression and force in Russia.
