Marijuana plants have been found growing near the hideout of Osama Bin Laden as journalists and reporters descend on the town of Abbottabad, Pakistan where the FBI’s most wanted was hiding out.

A CNN reporter found high strength marijuana plants growing alongside cabbage and potatoes in farm fields near Bin Laden’s hideout growing in the intense heat in the region which is well known for growing marijuana and opium.

Many wonder if Bin Laden smoked the plant to ease kidney problems, but people who lived near the hideout in Pakistan are now talking to the press.

A nearby shopkeeper on the Afghanistan border regularly supplied servants from the compound Bin Laden was hiding in with Coke and Pepsi soft drinks and bulk food orders.

Grocer Anjum Qaisar, 27, who lived near Bin Laden’s hideout, said: ‘Bin Laden’s men never came by foot, they always drove a Pajero or a little Suzuki van, and they bought enough food for ten people.’

Mr Qaisar said that he did not know who lived inside the building. ‘I was curious about why they bought so much food, but I did not want to be rude by asking,’ he told Bloomberg.
