Turkish SAT teams and American forces have rescued a Chinese ship named Full City and the 24 sailors on board off the coast of Mumbai in the Arabian Sea.
Turkish sailors were patrolling the area onboard the warship Gediz 800 kilometers off Mumbai when a distress call came in from the ship saying pirates were trying to take the ship captive.
“It’s been like this for some time. The pirates have been extending their coverage area,” Noel Choong, head of the International Maritime Bureau’s piracy reporting center in Kuala Lumpur told the AFP.
“Our major concern is that they will continue to go farther. Once they reach this area, the next one will be off Sri Lanka, and then on to the Malacca Strait,” he added.
