A TSA official pats down and searches a young girl during a security patdown. Many are outraged at the TSA's policies and the TSA is beginning to alter its screening practices in the face of public anger.

The TSA has now issued a statement saying it did not require a 95 year old woman with leukimia to remove her soiled diaper in order to complete a security pat down search at Northwest Florida Regional Airport.

The daughter of the woman filed the complaint. The two were travelling together to visit family in Michigan when TSA officials took them aside and told the 95 year old woman she would be searched.

The TSA says it did not require the woman to remove her diaper during the search and that woman’s daughter took her to the bathroom and removed it voluntarily.

Here is the TSA’s official statement:

“While every person and item must be screened before entering the secure boarding area, TSA works with passengers to resolve security alarms in a respectful and sensitive manner,” the statement read. “We have reviewed the circumstances involving this screening and determined that our officers acted professionally, according to proper procedure and did not require this passenger to remove an adult diaper.”
