Google is trying to make itself more social networking friendly with its newly unveiled social network called +1, but many think Facebook has a tight grip on the market.
Google also is treading caefully after the FTC is looking into whether Google is abusing its market position to promote its services over its competitors.
With Google +1, friends are grouped into circles that share simliar interests and bonds and a new feature called “Hangouts” will feature more spontaneous video conferencing over the web.
But don’t expect Facebook to allow users to export their friends and settigns to Google +1.
One Google executive told Wired magazine that Facebook is open to it but also “scared that we’re trying to kill them.”
