Fuel from Russian tanker finally reaches snow choked Nome Alaska

Millions of gallons of Russian fuel finally reach parts of Alaska that have received record snow.

    1.3 million gallons of diesel and gasoline are being pumped over the thick ice covering the bay of Nome Alaska.



    Coast Guard Cutter Healy crew members submit pictures of the rescue. The Coast Guard guided the Russian fuel tanker Renda through thick ice during a trip that took 10 days to reach the snowed in town.
