Rodney King was fined $500 and 20 days house arrest for driving with some booze and marijuana in his system.
This time the LAPD didn’t beat the living hell out of him.
King is the black motorist whose beating by white Los Angeles police officers was videotaped in 1991. Four officers were acquitted of charges in state court a year later, leading to rioting in Los Angeles.
If I were King, I certainly wouldn’t want to be trying to recreate that episode by driving around drunk and high again.
