New voter polls on Obama negative, not good news for president

Many think high gas prices coupled with negative news about the war in Afghanistan and trouble with Iran are hurting his re-election chances.

  • Despite an improving unemployment rate over the last 5 months, a poll from MSNBC shows that the president is still polling behind George W. Bush when he won his re-election fight in 2004.

    The voter confidence index is a poll by MSNBC that measures the performance of the president in many aspects including the economy, foreign affairs, etc.



    Obama now has a negative VCI and MSNBC reports no other President since 1976 aside from Bush has won re-election with a negative VCI.

    After improving for five straight months, Obama’s VCI is down three points since February.
