An anonymous Reuters news source has stated that Saudi Arabia and Qatar have been financing the Syrian rebels against President Bashar al-Assad.

A spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s said on he was not aware of reports that the kingdom was funding Syrian rebels.

Over 10,000 people have been killed since violence broke out in Syria over a year ago.

Syria says at least 2,600 members of its military have been killed by what it calls foreign backed “Islamist terrorists”.
