U.S. flag falls to ground at Olympics, was it on purpose?

Flag wasn't secured in wind, other two flags unaffected

The USA flag falls during the 2012 London Olympics Women’s tennis flag ceremony. Only Belarus flag (bronze medalist Victoria Azarenka) and Russian flag (Sharapova) are above the medal podium. The champions shared a laugh on the podium at the unexpected visual. After winning gold, Williams acknowledged the windy conditions.

The cheers in the crowd were obviously meant to demean the U.S. and were from a mostly British audience.

I think this was done on purpose. The event was edited out of NBC’s primetime broadcast but was later shown on a blooper reel.
