In honor of Neil Armstrong’s burial tomorrow, APOD posted the first picture anyone’s taken from another world.
He took the picture from the window of the Apollo 11 lunar landing module on the surface of the moon.
The view is of the desolate Sea of Tranquility, Apollo 11’s landing site. Armstrong took the photos to document the landing site in case Armstrong and Aldrin had to evacuate the surface.
