House of Cards being filmed at McKeldin Recreation Area

The HBO miniseries is being filmed in the scenic state park just over the Patapsco River in Carroll County.

Sunset during filming at the park.

Sunset during filming at the park.

Visitors showing up to hike, jog, and exercise will be seeing lots of Civil War re-enactors and buses and film crews when they visit the state park over the next few days.

Filming is almost done for a new season of the miniseries, but visitors can still enter the park and see some of the actors and film crews.

Tents lit with lanterns were set up along the road going into the park. The parking lot just above the rapids trail was filled with tour buses were actors were staying.

State Park staff are doing a great job keeping the park open to normal visitors while the series is filmed.

Maybe you’ll show up jogging in the woods during an episode.

The new season premieres next year on HBO.
