The picture is from NASA’s new moon probe Ebb Orbiter which entered the moon’s orbit around New Years.
NASA says the star shaped structure is not a structure built by aliens or humans on the moon, but a natural formation in Drygalski crater created when an asteroid or comet struck the moon’s south pole.
The orbiter has a sister spacecraft and both will map the moon’s gravitational field to discover what lies beneath its surface, providing insights into how Earth and the Moon formed. The mission is expected to last 82 days.
The side of the moon where the star shaped object lies is on the side of the moon that always faces away from earth, so those structures can usually only be seen by satellite.
