At 11:15 am, an armed man shot two people to death inside a surf shop inside Columbia Mall in Maryland and then killed himself.
A confidential source says that a man stepped out of a dressing room at a Zumiez clothing store and began shooting.
The gunman used a shotgun and killed a male and female employee.
The identities of the victims have not been released. One of the victims was female.
People have slowly been allowed to leave the mall after the mall was locked down so police could investigate. The mall will be closed the rest of the day.
A large police presence along with SWAT team embers have gathered outside.
The shooting happened on an upper level of the mall instead of the more crowded food court.
The shooting comes on the heels of new more restrictive gun control laws in Maryland including fingerprinting gun owners into a database and limiting the amount of ammunition in a magazine along with banning of so called “assault” weapons.
