So you refuse to pay the outrageous cable satellite bills and still want to watch the MLB playoffs? Tonight’s game will feature game one of the Orioles and Kansas City in the American League playoffs and you don’t want to miss it.
The World Series will be broadcast on local FOX affiliates, so you can pick that up for free with an antenna, but the MLB postseason playoffs are on TBS, so you need to have cable, but there are other options.
One is MLB’s MLB.TV.
The cost is $24.99 if you’d like to watch the playoffs, but here is where the twist comes in. You aren’t going to be watching the actual TBS broadcast but instead MLB.TV provides you a companion broadcast that includes ten alternate camera angles, four of which you can view at once on the screen. This is because TBS pays the MLB the rights to exclusively broadcast the games. An audio feed is included so you can hear the radio announcers calling the plays.
If you are a subscriber to one of the major cable satellite TV providers, you are lucky you can just turn on your TV and watch. But if you are not near a TV, MLB.TV is giving you the option of watching the postseason playoffs and the world series on your mobile device or computer for $9.99 provided you have an eligible cable satellite subscription. Check here for more details.
And in the worst case scenario, make friends with someone who has TBS and watch with them or head out to your favorite local hangout and watch with the crowds!
Whatever happens, everyone should have a good shot at watching the World Series for free over the air on your local FOX affiliate and you won’t need a cable or satellite subscription to do so.
And who is NEXTGEN FM rooting for to take the World Series Trophy???
The Orioles of course! May the best team win!
