In a surprising victory for a very blue Democratic state, Marylanders have elected Larry Hogan to the governor’s mansion, not buying Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown’s message.
It was largely an election focused on issues such as jobs and taxes while Brown struggled to define himself independent of the current governorship of the Martin O’Malley administration.
Moments ago Brown conceded defeat to Hogan who is now speaking from downtown Annapolis, thanking New Jersey governor Chris Christie for his campaigning and fundraising support.
Hogan said the message for change in Maryland was delivered loud clear to Annapolis and across the country in his acceptance speech.
His acceptance speech included stinging criticism for the Democrat leadership of Martin O’Malley in Annapolis. Hogan promised to roll back tax increases and restore integrity to the state.
