Speaking at a Wall Street Journal event today the Attorney General of the United States William Barr said he believes President Trump is legally protected in his direction to staffers and his administration to defy subpoenas from Congress.
He was being asked about the House’s release of Articles of Impeachment against President Trump and whether Trump obstructed justice:
“I don’t believe it’s the case that where somebody, including a branch of government, is asserting a legal privilege that they have under the law that that constitutes obstruction,” Barr said.
