At the washed out bridge on the Patapsco River in Maryland at the site of an old 19th century town called Henryton along the Old Main Line railroad that used to house a sanatorium and later a mental institution that was eventually closed in the early 1960s. At the site on the north side stands the third oldest operating train tunnel in the world.

The dilapidated facility was razed to the ground by the state in 2013. All that remains is an overgrown grass field where its eerie rotted out buildings used to stand.

The bridge across the river was wiped out in Hurricane Agnes and never rebuilt.

It’s fun to ride up and around the rolling countryside hills to the other side.
